My New Toy

To my friends who are missing me online, I blame this lovely little device. It's the Barnes and Noble Nook EReader. I got one for my birthday last week, and frankly, I've had my head stuck in it for days.

Not only have I discovered a new author because of her free ebook on Barnes and Noble, (That would be Christie Craig, btw -- hilarious romantic suspense)but I've, of course, had to download all the available books by said author, and am tearing through them.

Oh, and I've discovered I actually can sort of play soduku. The Nook comes with soduku and chess as games to play.

But anyway, do I have any complaints about my Nook? Nope, not a one. It's easy to read, and even my mother, who is totally a print book gal, was interested, since she could make the fonts huge. I mean, it only comes with 5 font sizes, but the sizes are good. Even my grandmother could read the larger prints with no problem.

Oh, and bonus, it reads most all my older PDF books without a bit of trouble. Now, my older books don't get the pretty little covers at the bottom of the screen in color, but they are there, and listed.

And when I got it, I figured out really quick that a touch screen phone would be seriously bad news for me. The small touch screen at the bottom of the Nook took a few days to get used to, though I'm still not totally used to it. It's quite sad, when I have to hand it to my husband and say "Make the thing move again."

But I figure that just takes time.

So again, I say to all my friends in IM land... sorry you haven't seen me. I've been playing with my new toy.

Congrats on your new toy. I love my Kindle and find more time to read using it. I would love to have color, but maybe that will come in time...or not.

Thanks for posting about the Nook. I'm close to buying an ereader. I heard the Kindle which now sells for $189 is sold out. The ereaders are bursting forth. Good news for us ebook authors.

Yes, the ebook readers are pretty cool.

In fact, if you have a Nook, you can lend books to friends to read.... Over the internet. So my friend who lives out of state can send me books, and I can send her some. :)

Very fun stuff! :)

I have yet to own an e-reader, but it seems to be all the rage. If it made me spend even more time reading, I might never keep up with my email. I am far behind with it now. LOL

I'd love to have one.

Well, the experts are saying keep waiting on getting one, the prices are dropping.

Already Kindle has announced it will have one that's $139 coming out next month I think... It's comparable to the Nook I have, that has just wifi in it.

(Though I'm not a Kindle fan... Don't like how they do it over there..)

So the prices are going down. Who knows, they may be under $100 by christmas.
