I just finished another book. Writing The End has always been difficult for me, even harder than writing the very first scene in a book. You want to be able to make the reader sigh, maybe even tear up while reading the two characters confessing their love to each other and know they'll have their happily-ever-after. It seems like every ending I write takes a little bit out of me. This last ending, in a way, is special since my characters in Unplanned were sitting on my desktop in limbo for about seven months without one. I had moved on to something else because, like I said, endings are so hard for me. What pushed me to finish the book was my sale to Liquid Silver with the first book, Untouched, in my Men of the Jungle series. So I was thankful for the push to give my hero and heroine an ending. Now, I'm working on the third book, Undone, and revising Hook, Line, Murder and need to write about 6,000 more words to finish Memory Lane. Wow, I'm tired just thinking about that. Clearly, I have too many irons in the fire, fishes in the pot or whatever. Maybe that's why I have such a hard time finishing anything.
So, is there anyhing you have a hard time finishing? Something that makes you procrastinate?
Have a fantastic week!

I usually know how to ending will be, but after spending so much time with the characters, it's hard to "let" them leave your mind and go out into the world. I mean, what if nobody else likes them--LOL!
I think what's keeping me from finishing my WIP is the action scene/rescue I'll have to write before I can write THE ENDING. Actually I've already written part of the ending, but it's the action scene I'm dreading.
And there might be some other factors like lack of focus, laziness, inertia and general brain deadedness.

Congratulations on finishing your book. I love to write The End because it gives me a sense of accomplishment and I haven't written it nearly enough. Although I do miss my characters when I finish a story. After I write The End, I delete it because editors hate it and always make me take it out.
Last year I started and stopped two novels. I couldn't seem to find enough story to finish them. I was very frustrated. Then I discovered short stories and at least I had a sense of finishing something. I started a novella determined to finish and prove that I could complete a longer story. I planned for the novella to be 20,000 words. It came in a little under 40,000. Finishing that did so much to relieve my frustration and get my confidence back. And contracting with The wild Rose Press for the novella sure helped too.
I'm impressed with the number of books you've written. I wish I could have put The End on more books.
Good luck with your stories.

Exactly, MK! I really think that's what stalls me.
Marie-Nicole, I'll write your action scene for you. I love to write those.
Carolyn, I've written about 5 novellas but my goal is to write a long book. I haven't written one in years.
